Words from Hutson about his time with The Academy by O3

“Playing for the Academy was an honor in itself, but one of my favorite things about playing with that team was the relationships between players as well as the coaches. The Academy is much more than your stereotypical AAU team. Obviously, the Academy plays and competes at a high level but the team feels more like a family than it does a competition for playing time. It makes for some memorable weekend tournaments and a lot of efficient practices. I am still very connected with all of my Academy teammates and enjoy hearing their latest updates. It’s normal for an Academy coach to text you in the off-season just to see how you’re doing or how you’re playing. The Academy actually cares about the player and not just the game. “

Here is what Coach Jordan had to say about Huston.

“Hutson is competitive, respectful, and mature. It wasn’t a surprise when I found out he had multiple older siblings and parents that both coach. He will beat you with class over and over again. A multi-sport athlete that truly makes it work. He would come in 15 minutes late, coming from baseball practice and he would rush in and all of a sudden I have an assistant coach. Calling out the score, encouraging players, and challenging opponents are all the intangibles you get with Hutson. What was truly special about his game is his ability to play multiple positions. He is a big guard that can use his body well, or a smaller forward who can beat you off the dribble and stretch the floor with a beautiful jumper. My favorite moment with Huston was pranking him at a restaurant during a team dinner. We all told the waitress to right her number on the check to see his response, I will never forget his and the teams response.”

Thank you Huston and the Hohlbein family for your years of dedication to our program and team.
