What to Expect From an O3 Sports Performance Assessment

When an athlete wants to become faster, move more efficiently, or feel more confident changing direction, a useful first step is understanding how they move today.

O3’s Sports Performance Assessment & Analysis gives athletes and families a closer look at those movement patterns with Coach Steve Koski, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). The goal is to identify useful training priorities and provide clear next steps.

What do we evaluate?

The assessment looks at several parts of athletic movement:

  • Running mechanics: how the athlete moves while running.
  • Top-end speed: the athlete’s movement at higher running speeds.
  • Deceleration: how the athlete slows down and controls a stop.
  • Change of direction: how the athlete transitions from one direction to another.
  • Overall athletic movement: the broader picture of how the athlete moves through the assessment.

These observations help guide a conversation about what to work on. An athlete who wants a quicker first step may also benefit from paying attention to how they slow down or prepare to move again.

What is included?

Your assessment includes three practical takeaways:

  1. Video analysis. We use video to examine movement and help explain what we see.
  2. A summary of our findings. You receive an overview of the assessment, making the key observations easier to understand and revisit.
  3. Specific drills to work on independently. The assessment includes drills connected to the areas identified, so the athlete has something concrete to practice.

How should you prepare?

Come ready to discuss your sport, current training, and the movement goals that matter to you. Comfortable athletic clothing, appropriate shoes, and water are practical starting points. Follow any additional instructions provided when you book, and let Coach Steve know about pain or a current injury before participating.

What happens afterward?

The findings can inform a training plan based on the athlete’s needs. That plan is a potential next step to discuss with O3; the assessment itself includes the video analysis, findings summary, and independent drills described above.

This is a performance-focused assessment, not a medical diagnosis or return-to-play clearance. Its purpose is to make the next training decision more informed.
